Robert Altman directs this 1970s satirical Western starring Paul Newman, Burt Lancaster, Harvey Keitel and Geraldine Chaplin. In 1885 William 'Buffalo Bill' Cody (Newman) stages a successful Wild West show, playing up to his world-famous persona, providing the public with an image of the West full of stories of bravery and adventure. But when Chief Sitting Bull (Frank Kaquitts) refuses to play his role in the way that Cody demands, resisting the transformation of history into an adventure yarn, it prompts the company to question the myth they have created.
