The classic World War II shooter series has shifted its focus to the present day with Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat.
Those used to the old-fashioned rifles of previous Call of Duty titles will have to get used to the high-tech weaponry on show here quickly, as Call of Duty’s frantic gameplay and intense combat stays firmly in place. Players will find themselves taking the role of a number of soldiers from both the SAS and the US Marines while attempting to track down a terrorist threat across the globe, travelling from the heart of Russia to the deserts of the Middle East.
Multiplayer is as robust as previous titles, and now lets players build experience to customise gear and unlock new perks. Gameplay modes include classics such as Deathmatch and Capture the Flag, and contain a few new gameplay elements, such as calling in air strikes.
Call of Duty 4: Modern Combat uses its new time period to give the series a fresh lick of paint, but its classic gameplay and detailed visuals all stay in place to make this one of the richest Call of Dutys yet.
