Clive Owen stars in this thriller directed by Mike Hodges. Jack Manfred (Owen) is a would-be novelist who takes a job as croupier in a London casino. His girlfriend Marion (Gina McKee) doesn't like his new life, but Jack is excited by the change, forms close bonds with some of his colleagues and begins to make advances with his writing.
