Deerhunter - Fading Frontier (Music CD)

After revisiting shoegaze and '90s indie years before those styles dominated the 2010s, Deerhunter became expert shape-shifters. They explored punk and garage in their own elliptical yet confrontational way on Monomania; on Fading Frontier, they sink their teeth into plenty of other sounds: "Snakeskin"'s slinky, ever so slightly unsettling disco couldn't be farther from the leather-clad rock of their previous album. Meanwhile, collaborations with Stereolab's Tim Gane and Broadcast's James Cargill suggest that Deerhunter haven't given up on their atmospheric roots -- they're just finding new ways of expressing them.
