Barbra Streisand and Omar Sharif star in this biographical musical which depicts the life and career of Fanny Brice. In New York City after the First World War, aspiring star Fanny (Streisand) secures her first job in vaudeville and audiences soon fall in love with her. She finds success when she is hired by Florenz Ziegfeld (Walter Pidgeon) to join his Follies and she becomes a Broadway star but her relationship with gambler Nicky Arnstein (Sharif) threatens to break her heart.
