Alain Delon stars in this French crime thriller written and directed by Jean-Pierre Melville. Jef Costello (Delon) is an expert hitman hired to murder a nightclub owner. After he completes the job, Valérie (Cathy Rosier), the club's piano player, witnesses him leaving but fails to identify him to the police.
