Players can either watch the character battle other characters, battle alongside the character, or battle against the character. The more the amiibo is played, the more it levels up, unlocking different moves, equipment, and customisation options. They will also level up faster when pitted against other amiibo fighters.

In addition to Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, you'll be able to use amiibo in a number of other games, and how they're used depends on the game. Additional compatible games include Mario Party 10 and Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker.
Compatible with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS
As well as working with the Nintendo Wii U, amiibo can also be used with Nintendo 3DS and 2DS consoles via an accessory that is planned for release in 2015. amiibo will also be compatible with the New Nintendo 3DS and 3DS XL.
