Classic Hammer horror, about an obsessive surgeon and the lengths he will go to for the perfect wife. After Dr Philip Ritter (Paul Henreid) falls in love with talented pianist Alice Brent (Lizbeth Scott), he is devastated when he finds that his feelings are not reciprocated. Taking in disfigured convict Lily (Mary Mackenzie), Ritter uses his plastic surgery skills to remodel her face into an exact likeness of Alice, convinced that he can cure her criminal tendencies by curing her outward appearance.
