John Badham directs this US baseball comedy set in the 1930s Midwest. A spirited team of renegade African-American ballplayers, led by charismatic pitcher Bingo Long (Billy Dee Williams), defect from their unfairly-run segregated league and take to the road challenging the white teams of each small town in the hope of swinging their way to a winning season. The cast also includes James Earl Jones, Richard Pryor and Stan Shaw.
