Michelle Williams stars in this drama directed by Kelly Reichardt. Along with her beloved golden retriever Lucy, down-on-her-luck Wendy Carroll (Williams) is driving from Indiana to Alaska in the hope of turning her life around by securing a summer job at a fishing cannery. However, when her car breaks down in rural Oregon and she cannot afford to buy food, much less get her car fixed, she is forced to make a series of difficult choices and risks losing Lucy forever.
