Low-budget black and white sci-fi thriller from Hammer films. Mysterious events surround the sudden appearance of a gaping fissure at a remote Scottish army base: soldiers on manoeuvres nearby develop a debilitating sickness, while a small boy is engulfed by an eerie presence. The radioactive, subterranean monstrosity seems to have been brought to life by recent atomic experiments - but can it ever be destroyed?
